DESCRIPTION:One Day Tool Tune-Up \nThis course is designed to show you how to sharpen and fine-tune your own woodwork tools. \nIt is relevant for brand new and used tools. \nMost tools when purchased new are not fit for use and need the grinding angle to be corrected and other adjustments to be made. \nWe will focus on flat and carving woodworking chisels\, also a range of hand planes and the spokeshave. You are welcome to bring along your own tools on the day to sharpen and tune. \nThe course will facilitate you using a number of different sharpening methods\, which will include the electric waterstone\, the oilstone\, the diamond stone and the leather strop. You will also learn how to maintain each of the sharpening tools\, so that you can maintain your own tools at home.

DESCRIPTION:The world-renowned Argyle Chair was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1897 for tearooms in Glasgow \nThis two-day course aims to make cabinet making accessible to everybody. If you have already done a course with Bevel Woodworking School it will be an advantage\, but it is not a necessity\, it’s only necessary that it appeals to you. \nThe classic Mortice and Tenon joint is the mainstay of this chair and you will be using a morticer to assist you in the assembly. You will also be using the hand plane\, block plane\, tenon saw\, jigsaw\, spokeshave\, chisels\, bobbin sander and more. \nYou will make your chair from solid Beech specially prepared for this project and you will take home your very own Mackintosh Chair\, crafted by you\, which will become a family Heirloom \nThe upholstery and finish will not be included in the two days\, but a seat blank is included which you can have upholstered to suit your own decor.

DESCRIPTION:Two Day Workbench Course \nSo would you like to have your own workbench\, to enable you to work in your own environment\, at your own pace and undisturbed? If yes is your answer then here are the details. \nThis is a two-day course in which you will construct your own workbench from 90mm x 90mm timber with 225mm x 60mm planks in the top. Some variables in size will be allowed. Some experience is necessary for this course. Material cost is all included with the exception of the vice. The cost of a vice is not included\, but you can purchase your own and fit it to the bench on the course. \nIf you need some advice on what vice to purchase please ask\, and we will guide you. You will complete a piece that will enable you to undertake your own woodwork projects in your own workspace.

DESCRIPTION:This is a wonderful introduction to the Workshop environment. \nCarving the Woodspirit is one day course. You will discover that it is a very hands-on experience\, but not just your hands\, your full attention will be engaged. You will be using carving chisels and a timber mallet\, and your energy and imagination will be drawn in as you progress. Your own creativity will have space to develop\, with careful guidance and plenty of encouragement from your tutor Tommy. The project is different for everybody who takes part because each finished piece is unique. \nThis is a great day out\, you will enjoy learning a new skill or improve your carving if you have already tried it before\, you will enjoy focusing your mind on the task and you will be surprised at what you can create. \nThis course runs on a Thursday\, rather than a weekend day\, just for a change.

DESCRIPTION:This one day course is suited for the summer\, because we will be working outdoors for the day. We have trialled this great course with a local group and are now ready to include it in our schedule \nIn this course\, you will be using the tools of the Bodger. Bodgers were highly skilled itinerant wood-turners\, who worked in the beech woods of the Chiltern Hills. The term and trade also spread to Ireland and Scotland. You will make your own Log Stool from a trunk of Ash\, using the shave horse to hold the timber\, and the froe\, beetle and drawknife to shape the timber. \nWe will work in our own garden space at the woodwork school\, so if the weather is not suitable we can work indoors instead. A really productive and enjoyable day\, with a unique finished stool at the end. \nAs the course is scheduled for a Friday\, make it part of a weekend on Hook Peninsula

DESCRIPTION:Two Day Workbench Course \nSo would you like to have your own workbench\, to enable you to work in your own environment\, at your own pace and undisturbed? If yes is your answer then here are the details. \nThis is a two-day course in which you will construct your own workbench from 90mm x 90mm timber with 225mm x 60mm planks in the top. Some variables in size will be allowed. Some experience is necessary for this course. Material cost is all included with the exception of the vice. The cost of a vice is not included\, but you can purchase your own and fit it to the bench on the course. \nIf you need some advice on what vice to purchase please ask\, and we will guide you. You will complete a piece that will enable you to undertake your own woodwork projects in your own workspace.

Using Scandinavian pine you will be building a chair that will last for many years. With step-by-step instructions from a master craftsman you will be learning how to use a variety of tools including a handsaw\, hand plane\, jigsaw\, spokeshave\, bevel\, battery screw gun\, wood chisel\, measuring tape and square. \nWorking in a fully equipped workshop\, meeting a few new people as you work through the class together. You may surprise even yourself at how much you will enjoy the process and taking home your chair will give you great sense of achievement. \nAs its a two day course\, you have the perfect chance to see some of Hook Peninsula and its spectacular beaches\, historic sites and visitor attractions.

DESCRIPTION:All day to Carve a Spoon. \nTreat yourself to this unique day out. \nCarving a wooden spoon\,  really ?  This might seem like a pointless exercise to some\, but it has turned out to be one of our most popular days in the workshop. \nDemonstrated step by step sample spoons are there to guide you through each stage. the timber you will use is sycamore \,cherry or walnut\, and the hand tools you will be using are carving chisels\, spokeshave\, coping saw and panel saw. You will take home a spoon you have crafted yourself. \nIf you have already carved a spoon with us\, you now have an opportunity to carve a more complex spoon\, as the day is designed to suit different skill levels. \n“The expert in anything was once a beginner”
