DESCRIPTION:Two Day Adirondack Chair Course \nThis is a 2 day course (9am to 5pm each day). During the two days\, you make the beautiful Adirondack chair. Using Scandinavian pine you will be building a chair that will last for many years. With step-by-step instructions from a master craftsman\, you will be learning how to use a variety of tools including a handsaw\, hand plane\, jigsaw\, spokeshave\, bevel\, battery screw gun\, wood chisel\, measuring tape and square. \nWorking in a fully equipped workshop\, meeting a few new people as you work through the class together. You may surprise even yourself at how much you will enjoy the process and taking home your chair will give you a great sense of achievement. \nAs its a two day course\, you have the perfect chance to see some of Hook Peninsula and its spectacular beaches\, historic sites and visitor attractions.

Marquetry is the ancient art of combining different timber veneers together to create a design or a picture. We have a number of templates we can work with to create your first marquetry picture and the exciting part is\, once you can master the technique\, the possibilities are endless. \nIt doesn’t matter if you consider yourself artistic or not\, this is a relaxing and rewarding type of woodwork and we invite you to come to try it for yourself \nWe will be using a range of veneers\, including walnut\, cherry\, beech\, birch and oak and you can choose from a range of design for your first Marquetry project \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Rustic Log Stool  26/07/2019
DESCRIPTION:This one day course is suited for the summer\, because we will be working outdoors for the day. We have trialled this great course with a local group and are now ready to include it in our schedule \nIn this course\, you will be using the tools of the Bodger. Bodgers were highly skilled itinerant wood-turners\, who worked in the beech woods of the Chiltern Hills. The term and trade also spread to Ireland and Scotland. You will make your own Log Stool from a trunk of Ash\, using the shave horse to hold the timber\, and the froe\, beetle and drawknife to shape the timber. \nWe will work in our own garden space at the woodwork school\, so if the weather is not suitable we can work indoors instead. A really productive and enjoyable day\, with a unique finished stool at the end. \nAs the course is scheduled for a Friday\, make it part of a weekend on Hook Peninsula

Wood carving is a skill which requires practice and lots of people choose to repeat the day as there are many different carving options. \nThe workshop is cosy\, the atmosphere is relaxed\, and the kettle is always boiled. \nUsing sharp wood chisels and a timber mallet from your own tool cabinet\, you will be working at your own spacious workbench and will learn various techniques while creating a two-dimensional piece in lime wood. \nThe process is enjoyable and the results are always surprising! \nConsider this as part of a weekend or day out to the historic Hook Peninsula. \n
